Words of unity at 17th annual MLK Prayer Breakfast
Religious leaders sent prayers for a stronger community at the 17th annual MLK Prayer Breakfast. The event is put on by the Ezekiel Project.
The organization wants to bring about change in the area by focusing on education, jobs, family and crime.
"What Dr. Martin Luther King epitomized and that's unity and that's oneness not separatism and we want to push that throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region," said Grady Homles Jr., executive director of the Ezekiel Project.
More than 250 people attended the prayer breakfast at SVSU. Several faith groups were represented.
Special guests included speaker Ana Gracia-Ashley who works with a network of organizations similar to the Ezekiel Project.
Congressman Dan Kildee talked about the need for comprehensive immigration reform and policies to reduce gun violence.
