Aaron Ayala's a disabled Army veteran and one of the reasons he's attending the University of Michigan, Flint is their veteran's center.
"I found out they had a student veteran's center and just the fact, there was a sense of community for me to come here and everything that they offer," said Aaron Ayala, "I would be lost without this resource center, a lot of us student veteran's would be."
A rededication ceremony and a ribbon cutting were part of the Veteran's Day celebrations at U of M, Flint.
The center needed to grow with the ever increasing numbers of student veterans attending the university.
When a person leaves the military they're entitled to numerous benefits, but officials say navigating your way through to get some of those benefits can be sometimes difficult and that's where the student veteran's center comes in so handy.
"Even beyond the educational benefits we have a great network throughout the state for other services for our student veterans," said Sarah Mellon, Veterans Recruitment Coordinator, U of M, Flint, "We try to be a one stop shop to get veterans to the services that they need."
More great news for student veterans came from the U of M, Flint Chancellor.
"We are making an opportunity for individuals to purchase U of M, Flint license plates," said U of M, Flint Chancellor Ruth Person, "We'll be using the revenue that we get from the state to dedicate to student veteran's scholarship, so that's another great opportunity to serve."
