A toddler is recovering after being nearly mauled to death by a dog in Buena Vista Township on Monday.
Police said the 2-year-old girl suffered massive puncture wounds to the side of her face and even lost a portion of her ear.
The incident happened at a home inside the Saginaw Villa Trailer Park in Buena Vista Township around 4 p.m. Monday. The home is located on Apollo Drive, just off of Dixie Highway.
Buena Vista Police Sergeant Sean Waterman said that the dog was left behind by a person who once lived at the address.
MLive.com reports that this isn't the first time the dog, which is believed to be a pit bull, bit the same girl. Police said the dog also bit the girl about a month ago, but the family allegedly couldn't afford the $130 to have animal control officials pick up the dog.
The dog is currently being held by animal control. The victim is still in serious condition at an area hospital.
