Telephone outage affecting parts of Arenac County

A telephone outage in parts of Arenac County is impacting customers with Century Link land lines, AT&T cell phones and some Verizon users.

As a result, some people may not be able to dial 911 in case of an emergency.

Dispatchers said the outage will likely last throughout the morning hours.

If you experience an emergency situation, it is best to go to your local fire department for help.

The areas impacted are the townships of Arenac, Sims, AuGres, Whitney, Turner and cities of AuGres and Omer.
