State: Inmate fatally beats other inmate in Ionia
The Michigan Corrections Department says an inmate at a prison in Ionia has fatally beaten another inmate.
The Sentinel-Standard reports that Corrections Department spokesman John Cordell says the attack happened Thursday at Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility. He says the injured inmate died Saturday.
Cordell says the dead prisoner's name will be released after his family is notified, and the attacker's name will be released after he's arraigned.
State police are investigating the death.
