Single-car crash kills Clare man in Isabella County
Deputies are trying to piece together what led to a deadly crash early Monday morning.
The crash happened around 12:40 a.m. on East Pickard Road, near Shepherd Road.
The Isabella County Sheriff's department said 64-year-old Daryl Franklin Patterson died after his car left the roadway and landed in a ditch in Chippewa Township.
The sheriff said the 1994 Lexus driven by the Clare man also hit a tree after rolling into that ditch.
Central dispatch received calls that Patterson was swerving all over the road before he crashed.
Patterson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident. An autopsy will be conducted to determine if medical factors may have contributed to the accident.
