No ordinary Joe: Starbucks unveils $7 cup of coffee

It is not a misprint, Starbucks is now selling a cup of coffee that retails for $7.

The beans are grown in Central America in an area known for its superior quality.

The Costa Rica Finca Palmilera is part of the company's "reserve line" and is the most expensive coffee sold in Starbucks history.

A Starbucks spokesperson says "the price is based on rarity, demand and green coffee prices.  The coffee is not widely available, so demand is high."

The beans are red-berry colored and were actually native to Ethiopia but were imported into Costa Rica in 1953.

The beverage is only being served in 48 stores throughout Washington and Oregon.
