New Buffalo Sabres coach from Fenton

After firing Lindy Ruff, the man that led the team since being hired back in 1997, the Buffalo Sabres have named Fenton-native Ron Rolston as the new team's bench boss.

Rolston was named the team's coach on Wednesday.

Rolston was born in Fenton and attended Michigan Tech University, where he played hockey for three seasons.

Rolston has held assistant coaching positions at Lake Superior State, Clarkson, Harvard and Boston College.

He was the head coach of the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League from 2011-2013. The Americans are a Buffalo Sabres affiliate.

Rolston replaces Lindy Ruff, whose career coaching record with the Sabres was 571-432-78-84.
