Missing Alzheimer's patient dies after wandering from home

A missing elderly woman who went missing early Monday morning was found around 7:30 a.m. and taken to an area hospital where she later died.

The Bay County Sheriff's office said the 86-year-old woman passed away after she was transported to the Midland Hospital.

Flajole Road was temporarily closed between Midland Road and North Union Road as officials searched for the woman.  Emergency crews also searched the area around the woman's home on the 4500 block of South Flajole Road in Bay County. That was in Williams Township near the village of Auburn.

TV5 was initially told the woman went missing around 9 p.m. Sunday night, and was only wearing a white night gown. Temperatures at the time were hovering in the mid-teens.
