Man jailed after deadly snowmobile-vehicle crash

Police are investigating a deadly snowmobile accident involving two Midland County residents.

They say a snowmobile collided with a vehicle on Secord Lake in Secord Township in Gladwin County.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

A 51-year-old man was thrown from the snowmobile after the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 60-year-old man driving the vehicle was arrested for drunk driving.

Investigators have not released the names of the two men but said they are related.

This comes on the heels of two other snowmobile crashes that killed two other men over the weekend.

MLive.com says 51-year-old Jeffrey S. Ellens of Cadillac was killed in a crash Friday night in Cherry Grove Township, near Cadillac. Authorities say it appears he was speeding and hit several trees.

Earlier in the day, 61-year-old Gerald Carter of Clarkston hit trees along Trail 35 in Wexford County and died.
