Local businesses lost more than $30,000 in what police call a battery theft ring.
Buena Vista police detectives arrested 53-year-old John Jerrolds in connection with the thefts. He appeared in court Thursday morning.
Police believe 225 high-end semi-truck batteries were stolen from trucks parked at local businesses. Detectives signed a felony warrant issued by the prosecutor, charging the man with felony larceny in excess of $20,000 and possession of burglary tools.
Investigators used surveillance video footage to identify Jerrolds and his truck.
Police learned he sold the expensive batteries on the street. They also believe he took the batteries to junk yards in Flint where they were sold for scrap.
Buena Vista Township Police were assisted by the Saginaw County Sheriff's Department and Michigan State Police.
