Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has charged a Forest Township woman for the murder of her husband at the couple's home.
Diane Dawn Arellano, 54, is charged with open murder and domestic violence for the March 1 shooting death of her husband, 65-year-old Michael Anthony Arellano.
According to the police investigation, around 8:20 p.m. on March 1, Michael Arellano's stepson arrived home from work and found Arellano laying face down in the basement of their home, suffering from two gunshot wounds. The stepson called 911 and police and paramedics arrived on the scene. Michael Arellano was pronounced dead a short time later.
Diane Arellano is scheduled to be arraigned in 67th District Court sometime Wednesday afternoon and remains lodged in the Genesee County jail.
