State Rep. Jim Stamas introduced a resolution that would require Michigan's 15 public universities to offer in-state tuition to honorably discharged veterans from around the country.
Stamas, R-Midland, introduced the plan as a way to help veterans succeed. He is the chair of the House Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs and a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.
"Giving veterans more educational options by allowing all veterans in-state tuition in Michigan is another great way we can show our appreciation for their service," said Stamas.
The Legislature would have to approve this measure, then a constitutional amendment would be placed on the ballot for voters to decide.
