Flint volunteers patrol streets on Halloween
Arson watch volunteers had their eyes peeled Wednesday night, playing double duty and patrolling Flint streets to prevent a repeat of Devil's Night.
As the ninjas, Power Rangers and GI Joes collected as many sweets as they could, a group of volunteers had their eyes peeled making sure the children and their families got home safe.
"I love working with kids, anybody would tell you I love being around them, and worrying about their safety," said Blue Badge volunteer Fred Anthony.
School crossing guard during the day, Anthony is also a Blue Badge volunteer working double duty Wednesday night.
He's patrolling Flint streets looking for arsonists, but his priority shifted to keeping a close eye on children trick-or-treating.
"That's number one, no good, and the children, they'll fit right in there with that," said Anthony.
"It's just good to have a car there, some ears and eyes," said Flint police Officer Tanya Meeks.
Porsche McGuire came out with her four kids Wednesday night. She says she feels safer with the Blue Badge volunteers and extra police presence.
"Be safe, just need to be safe out here, there's a lot going on the streets out here, so just trying to have the kids be safe, you know," said McGuire.
Adale Garrison agreed.
"I'm glad they have a lot of law enforcement out and everybody's pitched in to help," said Garrison.
