Fire breaks out at senior living facility
Saginaw Township firefighters responded to a small fire inside an apartment complex around 6 a.m. on Thursday.
The fire happened at South Colony Apartments at Colony Drive and M-46. Crews said the fire started behind a couch in an apartment on the fifth floor. All 200 units in the building were safely evacuated as a precaution and no one suffered any injuries -- something the Saginaw Township fire chief attributed to good pre-planning.
Residents were evacuated for about an hour but are now back inside their homes after crews got the fire under control.
The fire remains under investigation.
