Double duty? Flint official resigns after being exposed
Several questions surround a local city official's resignation after a Detroit Free Press article came out, exposing Barnett Jones' two full-time positions.
Besides Jones working as Flint's public safety administrator, he was also working in Detroit as head of security for the city's water and sewerage department.
Flint city officials say they learned about the job after a Free Press reporter called them for a comment.
Jones was being paid $135,000 by the city of Flint, and also making $139,000 a year in Detroit. Jones had a three-year contract with the city of Flint. Jones' salary was paid for by a grant from the C.S. Mott Foundation.
The situation has many questioning how he was able to do both jobs full-time.
Flint city officials have not said whether they will fill his position. The situation may also lead to changes within a time tracking system currently utilized by the city of Flint.
