Three local police officers who were laid off have their jobs back. but there's no department to go back to.
About a year ago, Flushing Township decided to fold its police department and contract services from the Genesee County Sheriff.
Three people lost their jobs.
Last month, an arbitrator ruled the township wronged the officers and stated the township needs to put the officers back to work.
But that's where things get tricky.
The township no longer has police equipment and will have to start from scratch.
WNEM was at the Flushing Township board meeting Thursday night, and the issue was not broached.
This is what the township supervisor had to say.
The several residents we talked with were also on the fence on this issue.
Some people support the officers coming back to the township department.
Others think the move will break the township's budget.
