Three people accused in the death of a man on Bay City's east side that occurred this month were due in court Thursday, but the case was pushed back.
Kevin Roberts, 19, faces the most serious charge of manslaughter as he is accused of firing a shot that ricocheted off the street and struck Santino Mota.
Police said that two groups of people started arguing just after midnight near Sixth and Van Buren. One person in each group was armed. One man pulled out a shotgun and fired a warning shot into the ground.
Fragments from that blast ricocheted into Mota, hitting him in his legs and his head. Police said the fragment went through Mota's eye and into his skull. He has been flown to the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor.
Roberts faces a manslaughter charge.
Katie Sian, 17, and Demarcus Fite, 19, are charged as accessories after the fact.
Their preliminary hearing, started at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, will determine whether there is probable cause that a crime was committed.
