The USS Edson served as a backdrop for a Veteran's Day ceremony. The Bay County Veterans Council honored veterans in front of the naval destroyer.
World War II veteran Don Pletzke was part of the original group that raised funds to bring the ship back to the Bay City area.
"It's here today, yes yes yes. So we're really thankful for that," said Pletzke.
Veterans of all ages and branches of the military received recognition. The ceremony included the color guard and a salute from a firing squad.
The location is for this year's event was different than the usual spot outside war memorial at the Bay County Building in downtown Bay City.
Pletzke hopes celebrating Veteran's Day at the USS Edson will become a new tradition.
The ship is located at the Wirt Sand and Stone Dock, 1008 Schuermann St. in Essexville.
