Auto shop wants its baby Jesus back

Augusta Davis is a loyal customer at Olson Tire Service. She's upset after finding out the baby Jesus from the business' nativity scene was stolen last Friday.

"I think it's really sad. This is the time that we're supposed to be joyful and being enjoying ourselves and then somebody steals the baby out of the nativity scene, why?," Davis said.

This is the second time a scrooge has victimized the Mount Pleasant store. Back in 2010 a baby Jesus was taken from the same display at the intersection of Mission and Pickard. Despite missing the centerpiece of the layout, co-owner Tim Olson says it's important for him to display his love for the holidays every year.

"I think the country has lost the true meaning of Christmas and we want to remind people what the true meaning is," Olson said.

Even though Olson is disappointed that the baby Jesus is missing. He did have a backup plan just in case. The baby Jesus that was stolen in 2010 was recovered by the business. It has been installed at the nativity scene.

"One of our customers was working on a rental house down by Central Michigan University. They found it and brought it back to us," Olson said.

Even though the nativity scene is whole again, Olson still wants his other baby Jesus returned.

"Hopefully they'll think about what they've done and bring it back to us. No repercussion just please bring it back," Olson said

Meanwhile Davis wants this to be the last time she has to learn about a thief stealing from a nativity scene.

"Jesus is the reason for the season. So we should have him out there so that we can remember why we have Christmas," Davis said.
