Police in Burton are investigating several complaints from drivers after reports of vehicles being shot at or rocks being thrown at them in the area of I-69 and Belsay Road, causing damage to several vehicles.

Authorities said there were no injuries as a result of the destruction, and that the damage caused to the vehicles is consistent with damage caused by a BB gun. Officers did locate some BBs left in an area near I-69 and Belsay Road.

Burton police said the victims made their way to their homes where they filed complaints in other jurisdictions.

Later on Friday, TV5 was told two teens had been taken into custody in connection to the crime. The teens, ages 14 and 16, are both Burton residents. Police said they were caught so quickly because they left the BB packaging on the catwalk where they were firing off shots.

Authorities tell TV5 the BB gun and pellets were stolen, and were tracked back to the store where the suspects were caught on surveillance tape.

Right now police said there's nothing to indicate that these incidents are related to the I-96 shootings that have occurred in Shiawassee, Livingston, Oakland and Ingham counties.
